The roots of Tough Hide Leather Group trace back to the early 20th century, during the British era in the historic leather-trading city of Kanpur. Our family legacy began with Mehar Chugatha, a highly respected leather craftsman known for his skill in traditional leather tanning and handcrafted leather goods. During that period, Kanpur was one of the most important leather centers in South Asia, and Mehar Chugatha built a reputation for producing durable, finely crafted leather products using traditional tanning techniques and meticulous handcrafting methods. His dedication to quality and craftsmanship laid the foundation for a family tradition in the leather trade that would continue through generations. Over the decades, the knowledge of leather selection, tanning, cutting, and glove craftsmanship was carefully passed from one generation to the next.
